So I figured his mother could be German, but it didn't seem to fit as well. So, being the Star Wars nerd that I am, I stole this idea from Corran Horn's background. His grandfather dies, so his grandmother remarries her husband's best friend in order to protect her son. So instead of being descended from a Jedi like Corran, I figured it would be fun to have Nick descended from a Nazi officer. I think I've seen 7 Years in Tibet one too many times...
